Samuel J. Comroe is a Los Angeles-based stand-up comedian who performs at over 100 clubs and colleges annually – winner of Ricky Gervais’ Comedy Competition and the San Francisco Comedy Competition, TV appearances on Conan and BET’s Real Husbands of Hollywood with Kevin Hart, and a finalist on America’s Got Talent. His comedy is built around living with Tourette’s Syndrome since age six, and he’s built one of the most genuine and loyal followings in stand-up comedy.
The project was a full redesign of his existing site – built to handle everything a working comedian needs in one place: full bio, video clips, tour schedule, podcast integration, and a WooCommerce store for merch and CDs. Logo design was included. The site was structured so Sam could update tour dates, add videos, and manage his own content without outside help.
Where it got interesting was the infrastructure. Sam was a finalist on America’s Got Talent – which meant every time he appeared on national television, traffic spiked hard and fast. Managing the bandwidth requirements, scaling the hosting on demand, and keeping the site stable under that kind of sudden load was a real technical challenge – and one we handled every time. Same story when his TikTok started going viral. He went from 10K TikTok followers to 187K practically overnight during AGT – he’s now at 394K followers and 11.2 million likes. Every spike in attention meant a spike in site traffic, and the site held.
Cloudflare was set up for performance and protection, giving the site an additional layer of stability during high-traffic events. The technical side of this build was as much about keeping the lights on under pressure as it was about design.
