Register, Transfer & Manage Your Domain Through Yellowfin

Your domain name is the foundation of your website and your email. Everything runs through it. Yellowfin handles domain registration, transfers, renewals, and DNS management so your domain is always current, correctly configured, and in the right hands.

Domain Registration & Transfers

Register a new domain or transfer an existing one. Existing clients can manage their domains directly in the portal.

What Yellowfin Handles

Domain Registration

Register new .com, .net, .org, .co domains and more. Available extensions are listed in the portal.

Domain Transfers

Move domains away from GoDaddy, Namecheap, or wherever they’re sitting. Transfers include a 1-year extension.

Renewals & Reminders

Domains are set to auto-renew. You get reminders at 30, 14, and 7 days out. Nothing expires quietly.

DNS Management

A records, MX records, SPF, DKIM, subdomains, redirects. Handled by the same person managing your hosting and email.

Privacy & Security

WHOIS privacy protection keeps your personal information out of public lookup databases. Registrar lock is on by default.

Direct Support

No call centers, no ticket queues. You call Stephen directly. Same person, every time.

How to Transfer a Domain – 3 Steps

Transfers scare people. They don’t need to. Your site and email stay live during the process. Here’s how it works:

01

Unlock & Get Your Code

Log into your current registrar, unlock the domain, and grab the EPP/Auth code. If you’re not sure how, contact us and we’ll walk you through it.

02

Start the Transfer

Click the Transfer button above, enter your domain and auth code, and complete the order. Takes about five minutes.

03

Approve the Email

Watch for a confirmation email from your old registrar and approve it. Transfers typically complete within 5 to 7 days. Your site stays live the whole time.

Common Questions

  • Can you handle the transfer for me?

Yes. If you’d rather hand it off, contact us and we’ll coordinate the transfer directly. Most clients prefer this.

  • Will my website or email go down during a transfer?

Not if it’s handled correctly. DNS settings carry over during the transfer and your site and email stay live throughout the process.

  • My domain expires soon – can I still transfer it?

If it expires within the next 2 weeks, renew it at your current registrar first. Transfers on domains about to expire can get stuck. Once renewed, transfer it over.

  • Do I own my domain?

Yes. The domain is registered in your name, to your contact information. Yellowfin manages it on your behalf – you own it.

  • What if my domain is with GoDaddy?

No problem. GoDaddy transfers are straightforward. Unlock the domain in your GoDaddy account, grab the auth code, and start the transfer above. If you hit a wall, call us.

When It Goes Wrong – Two Real World Examples

Quick Snacks Vending – Expired on GoDaddy’s Watch

The renewal notice went nowhere. By the time they noticed, the domain had lapsed – the website was down and business email had stopped entirely. Yellowfin tracked it down and reacquired it before a third party could pick it up, then consolidated hosting, email, and domain management under a single provider. The site was rebuilt from there.

Decks of Distinction – Domain Gone, Recovered Through Escrow

A Nassau County decking company in business since 1981 came to Yellowfin with a domain that wasn’t just expired – it was gone. Someone else had it. Getting it back required tracking it through a domain reseller and completing a formal escrow process. Most developers won’t touch this work. It had to be done before anything else could move forward. Once recovered, the site was rebuilt from scratch.

Neither situation was inevitable. Both could have been avoided with managed registration and someone watching the renewal calendar.

A Domain Is Just the Start

A domain on its own doesn’t do much. Pair it with managed hosting and business email and you have a complete foundation – one provider, one invoice, one person to call. That’s how most Yellowfin clients are set up.

Yellowfin Development has been managing domains, hosting, and email for Long Island businesses and clients across the United States since 2013. Domains registered through Yellowfin are handled by Stephen Knight – the same person managing your site.
